Γιάννης Σαμαράς

John Samaras has a 15 years professional experience behind renowned bars. Having started his carrier in well-established Athenian night clubs he has gained a very strong reputation in Athens night life. During his early years, he participated in the educational course B bar, of a well known international spirits brand, introduced by Michael Menegos. Having also worked for it, has taken him quite deeper in the amazing cocktails world, which he is proud to serve until today! In 2006, he had the chance to work with cocktail catering companies in many projects and in 2007 he took a very good opportunity to move to London and explore his abilities. This decision has proven to be an important experience as he worked for one year at the Bentleys Sea Food restaurant under Richard Corigan. John came back in Greece in 2008 and started to work for the Pere Ubu bar and restaurant that was a strong player in the all-day bars list. A year later, he got awarded at the 2009 Finlandia Cup. The same year he completed educational programs of Japanese bartending school by Suzuki Takayuki in Japan & WSPC in Greece and he started to work as the bar manager of the Panas Group (owner of renowned bars and restaurants) until 2010. During that year, he successfully organized the World Class 2010 in cooperation with Shaker and Andrew Pengely. During the same year he worked for Baba au Rum and a year later he took the manager’s position at “42” where he stayed until 2013. In the meantime, he has also participated at the World Class West Europe Greek finals in 2012 which also added a lot to his experience. In 2013, he entered the scene more dynamically, having joined a partnership and became one of the owners of The Dalliance House and Greek competitor for the master of a well-known whiskey in 2014. During all this time he also remained very active behind the bars. He organized and worked for a great number of events and shows like the London Rum Show with Glen Hooper, the World Class Greek Final, Bacardi legacy and others. Earlier this year he conceived the idea of the AFF ( Alchemist Flavour Festival) that successfully took place in Athens (May 2015). They were very honored to guest international personalities like Tony C, NFL, Dave Arnold, Charles Spence, Suzuki Takayuki, La Cantelaria) and share tons of knowledge and skills with a great number of attendants. Having all this experience and being by nature a person that wants to learn from the best and share with the rest, he is now working in an educational website project with reference to the best ingredients, professionals and practices across the globe!
