Giorgos Kalomiris

He holds a B.A. in Psychology and a B.Sc. (Hons.) in Speech and Language Pathology and Therapy – L.R.C.S.L.T. (Licentiate of the Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists). He has worked in the Mobile Psychiatric Units of Rural Care in the Prefecture of Evros, within the framework of psychiatric reform and the inclusion of people with mental disorders in the community, as well as in the Special and Therapeutic Unit “Spyros Doxiadis” and in special institutions such as the Sikiarideio Foundation. He currently works in the psychopedagogical department of Psychiko College and also maintains a private practice. He specializes in language deficits in children of preschool, school, and adolescent age, as these appear in both spoken and written language. He has a particular interest in narrative language and, whenever possible, performs as an amateur storyteller of folk tales for children. He is a clinical supervisor, focusing on language development, communication, accessibility, and inclusion. He organizes text-study and parent groups, and lectures in seminars of clinical and theoretical content. He has also served as a member of the Permanent Committee of Speech and Language Therapists of the European Union. He has translated important psychoanalytic works, such as Human Nature and Playing and Reality by D. W. Winnicott, and A Psychoanalytic Journey by M. Eisenstein-Averoff (all published by Armos Editions), as well as books including The Parents’ Survival Manual for Children with Autism (published by the Hellenic Society for the Protection of Autistic Persons), among others. “The natural voice surrounds and embraces the one to whom it is addressed, with the warmth of its prosody and human timbre.
