South Seas Distilleries is one of the oldest single malt distilleries and one of the oldest commercial distillers of Mahura flower spirit in India, with a journey that traces its roots back over a century to the quaint village of Aswa in Dahanu, Maharashtra, India. The story of South Seas is traced back to 1922, when the dream of its founders to produce extraordinary spirits was brought to fruition. At a time when few dared to venture into the realm of spirits, some of India’s oldest distilleries were established. Although operations were stalled by prohibition, the passion and vision behind them were not diminished. Operations were restarted and South Seas was founded four decades ago. Since then, the craft of distillation has been continually honed, and mastery of the art has been achieved. The capacity was further expanded, and India’s largest Copper Pot Stills were installed. Yet the journey did not end there. Against the tide, India’s largest privately owned warehouse was constructed so that distinctive spirits could be patiently matured.
