Denny Kallivoka is a Cocktail & Spirits journalist, strategist, and tireless advocate for responsibility and authenticity in the hospitality industry. She is the initiator of Metron Ariston – Making Responsibility a Trend, an initiative dedicated to embedding inclusivity, equality, localization, sustainability, and responsible drinking into the very DNA of modern hospitality. Through this work, she created VISION by Metron Ariston™, an initiative designed to raise awareness and promote inclusivity within the hospitality sector—beginning with accessibility for visually impaired guests. Denny studied Marketing Management and later completed a Master’s degree in Media Communications at City University, London. Early in her career, she served as a Project Manager in the Congress Department of Lambrakis Press, overseeing major international summits organized by the Greek Ministry of Foreign Affairs. In 2003, she made a defining career shift—leaving behind the world of conference management to follow her passion for food, wine, cocktail and travel journalism. Since then, Denny has become a recognized voice in Greek gastronomy and bar culture, contributing as writer, editor, and editor-in-chief to many of Greece’s leading publications, including Athinorama, Umami, Gastronomos, Kathimerini, Timeout Athens, Oinoxoos, Fooding, Ey Zin, Gourmet, Esquire, Status, Vogue, and Grape Magazine, among others. Her work spans interviews, restaurant and bar reviews, cultural commentary, and in-depth explorations of food, wine, cocktails, and spirits. Between 2015 and 2024, she was the partner of Difford’s Guide for Greece and Cyprus, working to enhance the visibility of Greek spirits and bartending talent on the international stage. Driven by a deep belief in localization and heritage, in 2016 she launched Aegean Cocktails & Spirits, a forward-thinking platform promoting Greek spirits and craftsmanship. Her goal: to inspire a new generation of bartenders and hospitality professionals to embrace and champion local products—not just as ingredients, but as expressions of cultural identity that can empower producers, uplift communities, and challenge perceptions globally. Her commitment to the evolution of the industry extends through the co-organization of major events such as the Athens Cocktail Festival (since 2022), the Athens Rum & Whisky Festival (since 2018), and the Cyprus Cocktail Festival (since 2019). She is currently co-owner of www.howtobar.com —a Greek and international platform dedicated to cocktails, spirits, and the global bar world. Denny has served as a long-standing judge for awards such as the Toque d’Or, the Gourmet Awards, Wiz Cyprus Best Restaurants, and the Gastronomos Cyprus Quality Awards, and has also judged numerous national and international cocktail, spirits, and wine competitions. Throughout her career, she has interviewed some of the most influential figures in global gastronomy and bar culture, including Anthony Bourdain, Isabel Allende, Cesaria Evora, Pierre Hermé, Ferran Adrià, and Jean-Claude Mouiex (Château Pétrus), as well as acclaimed master distillers, wine producers, and award-winning bartenders—weaving their insights into narratives that celebrate both professional excellence and human connection. A passionate traveler, she has visited over 64 countries, exploring how food and drink tell stories of people, place, and purpose.
