Jon Anders Borchgrevink Fjeldsrud moved to London from his native Norway in 1996 to study Graphicdesign. With the burst of the first dot.com bubble, and since the prospect of getting a job in advertising was slim, he jumped off his studies in 2001. He had two choices either to go back toNorway or start looking for another profession, he felt that the first was not an option, so he ended up bussing tables at Salsa in Charring Cross Rd, before getting a job as barback at 10 Room, working withDre Masso, Thomas Gillgren, Marco Li Donni and host of other great bartenders and that was it. Then followed a long line of different bars, 10 Tokyo Joe, Sanderson Hotel where he worked with the late Henry Besant, Light Bar & Restaurant, Baltic Bar & Restaurant. He went back to Norway in 2005for 3 months where he worked at Maskinistens Hus, in Tønsberg, before returning to London where he worked at Rockwell Bar at the Trafalgar Hilton Hotel with the late Kester Thomas. Through his good friend Pablo Hurtado he got a foot in the door at Café Pacifico where he worked as a bartender for the late great Tomas Estes for almost 4 years (Agaveextraordinary, Official ambassador of Tequila toEurope and creator of Ocho Tequila). He then worked as a head bartender at Charlotte Street Blues for a year.Before he started to work at El Camion and the Pink Chihuahua, where he worked for Ned and SageConran and with the great late Dick Bradsell. He worked first as a bartender but soon was promoted to manager, he left Camion for Wahaca Group helping them set up two bars, firstly SouthbankWahaca and then London’s first mezcaleria in the Charlotte Street Wahaca. After 6 months with them,he was back at El Camion, and worked there till November 2013. After a few months in Mexico, he started to work as a brand ambassador for AmathusBrand andHarry Georgiou in 2014, there he represented the Amathus Drinks portfolio of aquavits and agave spirits including Tequila Calle 23, Tequila Centinela, Tequila Cabrito, Mezcal Del Maguey, MezcalAlipús, Mezcal Los Danzantes, Mezcal Jaral De Berrio, Mezcal Pierde Almas, Mezcal Siete Misterio and all the aquavit from Arcus, Altia and Spirit of Hven on the UK market. He worked for Amathus for 4years.Amathus Drinks went to be the largest importer of Artisanal Mezcal in the UK and Europe and3rdlargest in the world.When Del Maguey was sold to Pernod Ricard, he came with the brand to Pernod Ricard Uk and worked there for almost 2 years, as a Brands Ambassador for Del Maguey Mezcal, Altos Tequila and theSwedish produced Åhus akvavit.Worked stopped during the Covid global pandemic in 2020 and he started working as a part-time bartender for Brat restaurant and for Fam bar in London. During the same time, he has been working with Dos Hombres mezcal, Bruxo Mezcal, Sin Gusano agave spirit, CopenhagenDistillery and Dangerous Don mezcal, with hosting trainings, events, trade visits and representing the brands in theUK. Currently he is working as a European Brand Ambassador for CasaLumber, the Mexican owner and creator of brands such as Almave Non-Alcoholic agave spirit, Nixta CornLiquor, Abasolo MexicanCornWhisky, Alma Finca Mexican Orange Liquor, Ojo de Tigre Mezcal, Defrente Tequila,NochelunaSotol, Contraluz Mezcal as well as a few more brands not available in the UK or Europe.
